Custom Wooden Staircases
Request an estimateCustom Wooden Staircases — Where Flooring Becomes Architecture
A staircase is the only piece of architecture in a home that gets touched every day. It's the centerpiece of an entryway. The connector between living levels. The visual line that ties a home's design together. When it's done well, a staircase elevates everything around it. When it's done poorly, nothing else in the home quite recovers. Since 1984, our second-generation family business has been Utah's trusted source for custom wooden staircases — partnering with custom home builders and interior designers on stair treads, floating stairs, and seamless flooring transitions across the state.
A service built for the trade
Custom staircases aren't a homeowner DIY project. They're not a job for a general contractor's framing crew. They're specialty work for builders and designers who need precise fabrication, custom matching to the home's flooring, and clean installation that integrates with the rest of the build.
Seamless from floor to stair
The detail that sets a custom staircase apart is how cleanly it transitions to the surrounding flooring. Most staircase contractors install generic nosing that almost matches but never quite does. We fabricate square nosing from the actual flooring material whenever possible. Same color. Same grain. Same finish. The result is a staircase that looks like it grew from the floor.

Materials that match your flooring
Custom staircases work best when the treads coordinate with the home's flooring. We deliver in every major material category — solid hardwood, engineered wood, LVP, and laminate. Whatever the flooring is, we can match it on the stairs.
How we work with builders and designers
Custom home builders bring us in early — often during framing — so the staircase can be planned alongside the rest of the build. Interior designers bring us in for projects where the staircase is part of the design vision and needs custom matching to flooring, cabinetry, or other wood elements.
Our install teams do the work
Staircase installation is detail work. Our install teams are ours — same crews, same dependable work, same result. They've installed custom stairs in luxury homes across Utah for decades.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can stair treads really match the flooring exactly?
Yes — and that's the differentiator. Whenever possible, we fabricate the stair nosing from the actual flooring material. Same wood, same finish, same grain.
What's the lead time on custom staircase work?
Standard custom treads with matching nosing typically take 4–6 weeks from final spec to install. Curved or floating staircases can take 8–12 weeks.
Can floating stairs be installed in any home?
Floating stairs require specific structural support. The structural design has to be coordinated during framing or a major remodel.
Do you do residential and commercial staircases?
Our staircase work is primarily residential — custom homes, high-end remodels, and luxury new builds.
What's the difference between solid and engineered wood treads?
Solid wood treads are crafted from a single piece of hardwood. Engineered wood treads have a real wood top layer over plywood — more dimensionally stable, especially for homes with significant humidity changes.
Can you match nosing to LVP or laminate flooring?
Yes. For LVP and laminate floors, we fabricate matching square nosing using the same product as the flooring. Same color, same texture, same wear layer.
